Functional beverages are usually composed of mineral components and carbohydrates, which are the main source of energy. Sometimes they are also enriched with caffeine, guarana or plant extracts. They quench thirst and hydrate better than ordinary water, as well as they supplement electrolytes lost with sweat and ensure the maintenance of a constant level of glucose in the blood. Shots, in turn, are much more concentrated, so already a small portion – one or two large sips – is enough to achieve the desired effect.
